Health Minister received by his Nigerian counterpart

Abuja, July 19, 2013 (SPS) - Minister of Health in the federal Government of Nigeria, Mr. Woony Boshi Choco has received, on Thursday, the Minister of Health, Mohamed Lamine Daddy, who is on a working visit to Nigeria to participate in the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Office of African ministers of health, as well as in the works of the exceptional summit of the African Union about the Aids, tuberculosis and Malaria diseases hosted by Abuja from 12 to 16 July.

 

Mr. Boshi Choco, assured to his guest " Nigeria’s unconditional support to the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, based on the firm belief in the inevitability of the decolonization of Western Sahara, like other countries of the African continent", expressing at the same time "readiness of his ministry to contribute, in the African and international partners efforts  to alleviate the suffering of the Sahrawi refugees and enhance their steadfastness, especially in the field of health. "

On his part, after presenting  ​​an overview to his  host on the long experience of the Sahrawi state in managing the refugee camps, Mohamed Lamine Daddy highlighted in details "the health policy of the Sahrawi state based on comprehensive and free health care, and major achievements in this field despite the difficulties and the limited possibilities," and expressed to the Nigerian Minister thanks of the Saharawi people and government to Nigeria for its principled and firm position.

 

He also expressed “the preparedness of the Sahrawi Ministry of Health to initiate partnership with their Nigerian counterparts in order to serve the interests of the two peoples in the health field."

 

The meeting took place in Office of the Nigerian Minister of Health at the ministry headquarters, and was attended in addition to the Nigerian Ministry officials, by the Saharawi Ambassador in Abuja Abby Bashray.

  

It is worth mentioning that SADR is a member representative for North Africa in the Office of African Ministers of Health, which is chaired by Nigeria since last March. (SPS)
