Shaheed El Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps), November 9, 2013 (SPS)  - Saharawi Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Essalek said Friday that the speech of the King of Morocco on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Moroccan military invasion of Western Sahara "reflects the increasing isolation suffered by the Moroccan occupation."

In a statement to the Sahrawi news agency (SPS), Ould Essalek stressed that the recent speech of the Moroccan king "reflects the failure of expansionary theses of Rabat because of its occupation of the Western Sahara is contrary to the decisions of the international legality."

"It is obvious that the valiant peaceful resistance in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and the southern cities of Morocco, which is gaining more and more in size and depth, despite the relentless repression, thwarts the colonial plans of Morocco," he said.

"Instead of relying on international arbitration by cooperating loyally with the UN efforts for the completion of the decolonization of Western Sahara, Morocco continues to put obstacles in front of the UN peace initiatives and attacks human rights organizations whose credibility has been proven," the Saharawi official said.

Ould Essalek called on the international community to "immediately" demand stop the repression and provide protection of human rights in Western Sahara and to save the peace process in ensuring the exercise by the Saharawi people of their inalienable right to self determination. (SPS)
