Rome (Italy), November 15 , 2013 (SPS) - In the presence of President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed abdelaziz, the European Conference for Coordination of Supporting Sahrawi People was launched Friday afternoon at the headquarters of the government of Lazio in Rome, Italy.
The President of the Republic was received by President the Region of Lazio, Nicola Zingaretti, and at the seat of the regional government of Lazio region, which was crowded with participants from different continents of the world, President of the European Coordination for supporting Sahrwi people, Mr. Pierre Galland, announced the opening of the sessions.
In his opening speech, the President of the Republic thanked the President of the Lazio region and Italian Friendship Association with the Saharawi people and the European Coordination of Support for the Saharawi people and the solidarity movement in general.
The President of the Republic called on the international community, in particular the United Nations and the great powers to put an end to the suffering of the Saharawi people who is waiting for its independence since several decades.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic denounced "plundering the natural resources of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco, while the Sahrawi people live in poverty and deprivation."
The Conference for Coordination of Supporting Sahrawi People, which has become an international date to work out concrete actions to support the Saharawi people in its struggle for independence, will last for two days and witness the setting of five workshops dealing with the political, economic, social and cultural conditions of the Saharawi people.
The topics of the workshops will be " politics , media and natural resources," "human rights," " humanitarian aid," "Youth , Sports and Culture " and " labor and trade unions" .
In addition to being an anual conference, the Conference for Coordination of Supporting Sahrawi People is an international network of individuals and organizations committed to push for a just and equitable solution to the conflict in Western Sahara. (SPS)
