PCB for right of Saharawi people to freedom and independence

Sao Paulo (Brazil), Nov 19, 2013 (SPS) - The Communist Party of Brazil (Portuguese acronym; PCB) has reiterated its support to the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence, at the closing ceremony of its 13th congress, held in Sao Paulo from 14 to 16 November 2013 under the banner "Advancement for Change", said a Saharawi diplomatic source.


The Brazilian party reiterated its resolve to advocate for the Saharawi cause on the international diplomatic foras, particularly in Latin America.


The congress was attended by a Saharawi delegation, led by the Minister Delegate for Latin America Mr. Hash Ahmed and composed of Mr. Mohamed Zrug, ambassador in mission to Brazil, and Mr. Mohamed Karim Legdaf, Saharawi diplomat.


Saharawi delegation took this occasion to meet with officials from the Brazilian Communist Party.


They, therefore, held talks with representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, Uruguay, Peru, and Portugal, in addition to the delegations of Bolivia, Italy, Panama, Benin and South Africa.


Over 800 delegates from all over Brazil and representatives of 52 international organizations were present at this congress.


The President of the Republic of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, attended the closing session. (SPS)
