National Council starts autumn session

June 9 School (Sahrawi refugee camps), December 1, 2013 (SPS) - The National Council (Parliament) started Saturday  the autumn session for the year 2013, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, the President of  the National Council, Khatri Adouh, and members of the Government and National Council.

 

The agenda of the session included presentation of the evaluation programme of the Government for the year 2013, reports of the Council’s regional bureaus for discussion, reports of the Committees for discussion, Government responses to the questions raised and report of the National Council.

 

Prime Minister  Abdelkader Taleb Omar reviewed the overall performance and major objectives of the Government, giving a comprehensive assessment of the government's program for the year 2013.

 

On the foreign front, the Prime Minister highlighted the most important achievements in the international arena of international conferences of solidarity with the Saharwi cause in the African, European and American continents like those held in Abuja and Rome, as well as the conference which will be held in mid-December in the Algiers.

 

On the internal front, the Prime Minister hailed all forms of solidarity in the refugee camps with the occupied territories of Western Sahara, besides the ‘special’ commemoration of all national events, in particular the commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the launch of the armed struggle and the establishment of the Polisario Front.

 

The Prime Minister noted the ‘decline in the pace of humanitarian aid’ due to the global economic crisis, which has affected some of the donor countries and supporting organizations.

 

He also underlined the failure of Morocco’s colonial policies to discourage Sahrawi citizens from continuing their just struggle, thanks to the adherence of the Sahrawi people to its national unity and  attachment to its legitimate representative,  the Polisario Front . (SPS)
