Mozambique will intensify efforts to accelerate decolonization of Western Sahara

Maputo, Dec 4, 2013 (SPS) - The Speaker of the Mozambican Parliament, Ms. Veronica Macama, said Tuesday that her country “will intensify efforts at all levels to accelerate the decolonization process in Western Sahara,” informed Saharawi embassy in Maputo.


In a meeting with the Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Wadadi Ahmed Alheiba, Ms. Macama renewed Mozambique's support to the struggle of Saharawi people for freedom and independence.


She also deplored the violations of human rights committed by Moroccan regime against the unarmed Saharawi civilians in occupied Western Sahara.


This meeting was an opportunity for the Saharawi diplomat to inform his interlocutor about the latest developments on the Saharawi question, especially the deteriorating situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


At the end of the meeting, Saharawi ambassador handed over a written invitation sent by Mr. Khatri Addouh, Speaker of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament), to Ms. Veronica to attend the international conference on peoples’ right to self-determination, to take place in Algiers mid-December.
