PAP President committed to defend Saharawi cause

Johannesburg, March 19, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Pan-African Parliament Mr. Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi has expressed commitment to defend the Saharawi cause, stressing the need to decolonize the last colony in Africa, Western Sahara.


In a ceremony held Tuesday in Johannesburg, South Africa, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PAP, Mr. Amadi voiced his commitment to defend Western Sahara issue, calling for putting an end to Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara, through completing the process of decolonization.


Also among the speakers during the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, president of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and current chairperson of the African Union, H.E. Mr. Yoweri Museveni, president of Uganda, Mr. Jerry John Rawlings, former president of Ghana, as well as the representatives of the presidents of South Africa and Chad.


During their speeches, the African leaders recalled to the challenges faced by the Pan-African Parliament, ahead being granted a full legislative powers that make it able to serve the issues of the continent.


On the occasion, President of the PAP Mr. Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi gave symbolic presents to the heads of state present at the event, of which the President Mohamed Abdelaziz. (SPS)
