London, March 21, 2014 (SPS) - British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Mr. Hugh Robertson has reaffirmed that the British government "strongly" supports the efforts of the United Nations to encourage Morocco and the Polisario Front to reach an agreement on a lasting and mutually acceptable political solution providing for the right to self-determination of the people of the Western Sahara.
It was stated in a response to a question forwarded by the Minister in the shadow government, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Group for the Western Sahara, Ms. Cathy Jamieson, to the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr. Hugh Robertson, asking Whether he will hold discussions with the Polisario Front on security in the part under its control of the Western Sahara.
The response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth was signed on behalf of the Minister of State, Mr. Hugh Robertson, saying that the officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth meet them (the Polisario Front) on a regular basis and discuss with them a number of political, economic and security issues.
