Addis Ababa, May 24, 2014 (SPS) - Representatives of Saharawi civil society participated between the 21st and 23rd to the regional consultations of Non-State Actors on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the AU Peace and Security Council, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two Saharawi delegates, Mr. Laarousi Abdalahi, representing the Saharawi Association of Families of Prisoners and Disappeards, and Mr. Malainin Lakhal, representing the Saharawi Natural Resources Watch (OSRN), actively participated to the discussions that aim at elaborating a final report to be submitted to the Peace and Security Council, as a part of the interactions with the PSC and the African Peace and Security Architecture.
The main goals of this consultation was to assess the PSC in its first 10 years of operation, and establish how the relationship between the PSC and non-state actors can be enhanced in order to promote peace, security and stability in Africa. (SPS)
