Juba, June 21, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E. Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit expressed Wednesday his country's firm support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, when receiving the letter of credence of the Saharawi ambassador in Juba.
President Mayardit said that such position stems from a long struggle waged by the people of South Sudan in order to obtain freedom, highlighting that the decolonization of the African continent is essential thing guaranteed by the Charter of the African Union as well as the resolutions of the Security Council and General Assembly of the United Nations.
Receiving the credentials of the Saharawi ambassador in South Sudan, Mr. Mayardit expressed his country's willingness to strengthen relations and the level of cooperation with the Saharawi Republic (SADR).
"The referendum on self-determination remains the most credible solution to enable the Saharawi people to determine their own future," underlined the President of South Sudan, adding that the position of his country is based on international law and a long and hard experience of struggle, like that experienced by the Saharawi people now.
