Signing of new agreements to explore for minerals in the liberated territories of Western Sahara

Paris, October 11, 2014 (SPS)- the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic has signed Saturday morning in Paris, seven agreements with the Australian company “Hanno Resource Limited” to explore for minerals in the liberated region of Tires, with a total licenses of 14 thousand square kilometers.

 


These agreements have been signed in accordance with the provisions of Mining Law of the SADR No 02/014, which was approved by the Saharawi National Council on 26 May 2014, and these licenses are distributed to 5 licenses in Miyek region 2 licenses in Agwinit region.

 


In this context, Dr. Ghali Zubair the President of the Sahrawi entity of Petroleum and Minerals has stressed that signing these agreements comes within the framework of the exercise of SADR to sovereignty over its territories, and to confirm to foreign partners the inevitability of independence and the withdrawal of Moroccan occupation. It is also a practical contribution to the reconstruction of the liberated territories and offers promising opportunities for training and operating in the field of mining and gain experience in this sector which is newborn in our country.

 


From his side, Dr. Kidman Marriott the Executive Director of the Australian company said: “" We are very pleased to have signed this agreement, and encouraged by the results obtained in this area so far, and we look forward to expand our activities and to further cooperation and joint action with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic".

 


It should be recall that SADR has awarded eight licenses to explore for oil and gas for a number of foreign companies. (SPS)
