British government: Relations with Morocco in framework of internationally recognized borders

London, November 1, 2014 (SPS) - The British government confirmed Thursday that its relations with Morocco is only within its internationally recognized borders, reiterating support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, in response to questions of MPs in the British Parliament

 

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Mr. Tobias Martin Ellwood, confirmed thatBritain supports the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy to Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, in their efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara through a negotiated settlement that provides for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination

 

The British government's response reaffirms the international isolation of the Kingdom of Morocco as a result of its illegal occupation of Western Sahara, and also reaffirms that there is no a country in the world that recognizes Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara including its main ally France.
