Paris, November 23, 2014 (SPS) – The Christian Organisation Against Torture and Capital Punishment directed a petition to the French President, Francois Hollande, on the eve of the holding of the second edition of the Global Forum for Human Rights in Marrakech, Moroccan, to put pressure on Morocco to respect its international obligations and to respect human rights in particular the issues of torture and the right to a fair trial.
The world body demanded the release of Sahrawi human rights activist Naama Elasfari and his companions, and to open an investigation into the torture and ill-treatment that he suffered, as stated in the petition, which was posted on the site of the Organisation on the internet.
The Organization also published an article highlighting the contradiction of the Moroccan state, at the time when it is trying to give a rosy picture of the reality of human rights in Morocco and Western Sahara, they continue to detain Sahrawi activists on the ground of their positions and political activities, stating in detail the story of activist Naama ELasfari and his companions arrested after the Moroccan army assault on Gdeim Izik camp who entered their fifth year of arrest.
