Moroccan authorities prevent elected French from visiting Saharawi prisoners

Sale (Morocco), Dec 2, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities on Monday prevented five elected French from Ivry-sur-Seine from visiting the Saharawi political prisoner, Naama Lasfari, and his colleagues, who are known as the group of Gdeim Izik detainees.


The delegation also aimed at visiting the Saharawi political prisoner, Mbarek Daoudi, on hunger strike since a month, and inquiring about the detention conditions of the Saharawi political prisoners, incarcerated in Moroccan prison of Sale 1.


The delegation were harassed and mistreated by Moroccan police, in plain clothes and uniform outside Sale Prison.


They were also subjected to an hour-long interrogation, after their cameras and mobile phones being confiscated.


To recall, Gdeim Izik detainees were sentences to heavy judgments ranging from 20 years to life in prison. (SPS)
