Algeria, China reiterate support to Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

Algiers, Jan 14, 2014 (SPS) - Algeria and China on Monday reiterated their “constant stance” regarding the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, said the Algerian People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) in a statement, quoted by Algeria Press Service (APS).


The announcement made during a meeting between the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Community Abroad at the Algerian Lower House and the Chinese Ambassador in Algiers, Yang Guang Yu.


The two sides underlined their common positions regarding international and regional issues and reaffirmed their support to the principle of people’s right to self-determination, including of which the people of Western Sahara.


For his part, the Algerian official underlined the need for China “to put their weight on UN to find a solution to the issues of Palestine and Western Sahara.”


On other context, the two countries condemned the phenomenon of terrorism, which has become a constant threat to the security and stability of countries around the world. (SPS)
