Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 25, 2015 (SPS) – A delegation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), including the Secretary General of the Women Union, Fatma Elmehdi, and Senior Advisor at the Sahrawi embassy in Ethiopia, Baba Omar Elbardi, took part Saturday at the third ministerial Congress of the African states signatory to the convention on the establishment of the African Agency for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The Congress was attended by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E Dr Dlamini Zuma, the current president of the conference, Minister of Planning of the Republic of Guinea, and the Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union, with the participation of many interested international organizations and partners such as the Swiss Cooperation Development Agency, the German Development Bank, the Swedish Agency for Cooperation, the World Food Programme and the United Kingdom International Cooperation Department.
The congress approved a number of issues submitted to the agency by government senior officials and experts such as a program of work and budget for 2015, the evaluation of the Agency's activities between the second and third congresses, rules of procedures for acting in respect of nominations, elections and adoption of the report and recommendations of the experts on the assessment of the agency’s activities and its board of directors.
