Algiers, Feb 5, 2015 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, on Tuesday called upon the international community to intensify its efforts to stop the flow of the Moroccan drugs to the countries of North Africa and the Sahel.
“We send an urgent message to the United Nations, the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) to put pressure on the Moroccan kingdom to stop the flow of its drugs to the countries of North Africa and the Sahel,” said Ould Salek in a press conference at the headquarters of the Saharawi embassy in Algeria.
For the Sahrawi official, “this flow of drugs is a criminal policy that is at the origin of conflicts, wars and instability in the region.”
He recalled that “the dealers and drug barons form their criminal networks to sell Moroccan drugs in complicity with the Moroccan military and security authorities.”
In this regard, the minister added that the Saharawi government and the Polisario Front “want to draw the international community’s attention to the flow of the Moroccan drugs.” (SPS)
