Algiers, March 4, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi national cycling team, consisting of 8 members, will be the guest of honor of the 5th Grand Cycling Tour of Algeria (GTAC 2015), to be held from 6 to 30 March 2015, said Tuesday the President of the Algerian Cycling Federation (FAC), Rachid Fezouine, during a forum hosted by the National Organization of Algerian sports journalists.
The Algerian official said that all the facilities in terms of accommodation, catering and technical preparation have been placed at the disposal of Saharawi cyclists.
“We are honored to participate in the Grand Cycling Tour of Algeria 2015. I verily thank the Algerian Cycling Federation for such praiseworthy gesture which affirms Algeria’s position vis-à-vis the Saharawi cause,” said Mr. Ahmed Bagay, president of the Saharawi cycling team.
18 teams from 15 countries were selected by the organizing committee to participate in the 5th GTAC 2015, a major international sporting event.
The Netherlands, Italy, Great Britain, Malta, Germany, Morocco, United Arab Emirates and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) are among the countries which will participate in this event.
This event, listed within the calendar of the Africa Cycling Tour, is ruled by the regulations of the Algerian Cycling Federation and the International Cycling Union (UCI). (SPS)
