Awserd (Refugee Camps), March 25, 2015 (SPS) - The Regional Council of the Wilaya of Awserd sent Tuesday a letter to the UN Security Council, demanding the expanding of the mandate of the MINURSO, which still the only UN mission in the world that do not include the human rights monitoring, following a sit-in organized by the national campaign against the plundering of our natural resources.
The Council urged in its letter the UN Security Council to create a mechanism within the MINURSO mission to monitor human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
The participants in the sit-in called also the Security Council to play a role in stopping the illegal and immoral looting of Sahrawi natural resources by foreign companies in complicit with the Moroccan occupation.
It should be noted that the national campaign will organize other vigils during the coming days. (SPS)
