“We reaffirm our support to the Personal Envoy, Christopher Ross, in his mission to facilitate the commitment of both countries in the negotiations that should lead to a mutually acceptable political solution which provides self-determination to Western Sahara,” wrote the Sahrawi President in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.
In addition, Mohamed Abdelaziz hailed the call made by Ban Ki-moon, on November 4th, through which he underlined the need for “real negotiations” between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco in the coming months.
The Polisario Front Secretary General also expressed the Sahrawi people’s “deep concern” about the speech of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI in his last visit to occupied EL-Aaiun, on November 6th, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Moroccan illegal invasion of Western Sahara , dubbing this speech a direct “confrontation” with the United Nations and an attempt to bypass the political process of the last African colony, Western Sahara, which is under the UN responsibility and subject to an unfinished decolonization process.
