Shahid El Hafedh (refugee Camps), 27 Nov 2015 (SPS) - UN Secretary-General's personal envoy to Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, arrived Friday afternoon in Saharawi refugee camps as part of a two-day official visit in a bid to relaunch negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front.

In the Saharawi refugee camps, the third stage of his tour to the region after Algeria and Morocco, the UN envoy will meet the Saharawi delegation to the negotiations, Polisario Front executives and Saharawi ministers and top officials.

Ross is in the refugee camps as part of UN efforts to reach a solution to the conflict by launching the talks between the two sides (Morocco and Polisario Front).

The UN official will submit a report to the UN Security Council in April 2016, including his views about the settlement of the conflict.

Ban Ki-moon's personal envoy will reiterate UN chief's position ahead of the latter's visit to the region before the end of the year, following the report his envoy will draft in the light of his consultations with the two parties to the conflict (Morocco and the Polisario Front) and the observer countries (Algeria and Mauritania).
