Dakhla (Refugee Camps) - the work of the 14th Congress of the Polisario Front resumed Monday in Dakhla (refugee camps), with the election of the Secretary general and the national Secretariat of the Polisario Front.
During this 6th day, delegates will elect the new Secretary General and members of the National Secretariat for the first time directly elected by the delegates, thanks to the new amendments of the general status of the Polisario Front adopted the previous day.
The work of the 5th day of the 14th Polisario Front Congress had ended on the night of Sunday to Monday, with the adoption of the report of the committee of the national program of action and the constitution of the election commission.
The election committee, composed of 85 members, chaired by Bouchraya Bayoune, is expected to announce Monday the candidates for the posts of the Secretary-general and the national Secretariat.
According to the congress spokesperson, Mansour Omar, the election committee, which had continued to receive applications for the post of Secretary General of the Polisario Front until 2:00 a.m., recorded only that of Mohamed Abdelaziz. (SPS)
