Sahrawi civilian prisoners suffer from medical neglect and racial discrimination in Ait Melloul 2 local prison

Occupied Laayoune, October 19, 2024 (SPS) - The administration of the Ait Melloul 2 local prison, on the outskirts of the Moroccan city of Agadir, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, prevented the Sahrawi civilian prisoners from the Gdeim Izik group, Mohamed Ahnini Al-Ruh Bani and Ibrahim Dadi Ismaili, from receiving appropriate medical care after excluding them from undergoing medical examinations on their bones and joints.

According to what the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners has received from data issued by the families of Sahrawi civilian prisoners, the authorities of the prison deliberately did not include Mohamed Ahnini Al-Ruh Bani and Ibrahim Dadi Ismaili among the cases of transfer to the hospital to receive the necessary treatments, despite having their medical files, which include the diseases they suffer from.

The same source added that the discriminatory treatment they are subjected to at the hands of the authorities of the prison falls within the framework of the policy of oppression and deprivation pursued against them, which aims to deprive them of their basic and legitimate rights guaranteed internationally.
