berlin , February 10,  2024 (SPS) -The Representation of Frente POLISARIO in Germany presented, on Friday, its condolences to the Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Berlin following the death of the President of Namibia, friend of the Sahrawi people, Dr. Hage G. Geingob.

The Deputy Representative of the Sahrawi Representation in Germany, Saleh Sidimustafa, expressed to the Deputy Ambassador of Namibia in Germany, Mrs. Avril Coetzee, the deep sorrow  of the Sahrawi government and people for the loss of Dr. Hage G. Geingob, who will always be remembered, among the Saharawis and everywhere, as  a visionary statesman and long-serving member of SWAPO, and a towering veteran of Namibia’s independence struggle.

The Sahrawi diplomat, in the name of the Representation of Frente POLISARIO in Germany, also signed the book of condolences opened by the Namibian Embassy on the occasion of the death of Dr. Hage G. Geingob, emphasising that "The Frente POLISARIO and the people of Western Sahara are  deeply saddened by his loss and we will miss him dearly”.

The condolence text added that: “President Geingob worked wholeheartedly to promote and defend African interests and issues. He will be remembered as a staunch supporter of the liberation struggle of the Sahrawi people and as an unwavering defender of international law and the rights and dignity of the peoples.  He once described the delay in implementing UN resolutions to put an end to the occupation of  Western Sahara as an embarrassment to the forehead of the international community and  as a collective shame”.

The condolence text asserts “Our dear friend  Dr. Hage Geingob will be remembered for his intelligence, leadership and moral courage. He was an icon of liberation and self-determination, and our people will honour his legacy by continuing our lawful pursuit of freedom and independence.  We extend our deepest condolences to his family and to the Government and people of Namibia”.
