Canary Islands (Spain), 25 November 2023 (SPS) - The Canary Parliament witnessed the announcement on Monday of the establishment of the Parliamentary Group to support the Sahrawi people at the regional parliamentary level in the Canary Islands province, located on the island of Tenerife, coinciding with the start of the eleventh term of the latter.
The new parliamentary group includes representatives of the majority of the political parties and entities that make up the regional parliament of the province. It held its first meeting the day after its establishment to define its objectives, tasks, and work programs for the next parliamentary term.
The members of the parliamentary group expressed their full commitment during this term to continue to defend the just cause of the Sahrawi people and to work towards the local and central government to expand the scope of humanitarian support for Sahrawi refugees, as well as their solidarity and support for the struggles of the Sahrawi masses in the occupied cities.
The parliamentary group also intends to undertake other parliamentary initiatives to support the Sahrawi cause, such as issuing statements and questioning the government within parliament, as well as participating in international and national activities and events to support the struggle of the Sahrawi people.
