Bir Lahlou (SADR), Dec 09, 2021 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO Brahim Gali affirmed that the POLISARIO will not adhere to any peace process at a time when the occupation State imposes its terrorist regime on the occupied Sahrawi territories, and in light of the unexplained silence of the United Nations.
In a new message sent to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Sahrawi President affirmed that it is early to talk about the revival of the peace process at a time when the defenseless Sahrawi people are the target of horrible atrocities.
“That is why we shouldn’t expect that the POLISARIO adheres to any possible peace process in view of the continuation of Moroccan terrorist practices in the occupied territories and the unjustified silence of UN,” he wrote in his message.
Gali referred to his last message sent to UN in which he affirmed that the persistence of the occupation State in its cruel crimes against the Sahrawi civilians with complete impunity saps dangerously the horizons of the peace process and also closes the door to any possible peaceful solution likely to end the occupation of Western Sahara.
President Gali called on the chief of the UN Security Council to take an urgent action aimed at ending the barbarity and attacks on the activist Sultana Khaya and her family by the Moroccan occupation State, ensuring protection to the Sahrawi human rights activists and ensuring the immediate and unconditional release of the Sahrawi political detainees, including the group of Gdeim Izik.
In this regard, the POLISARIO underlined that the failure of UN and the other stakeholders to stop the terrorist practices against the family of Sultana Khaya and the other Sahrawi activists leaves no choice to the POLISARIO but to take the necessary measures on its participation in “the political operation” as well as its cooperation with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).SPS
