Minister of Public Health agrees with Castilian-Leon authorities cooperation and support to the Saharawi people

Valladolid (Castilla y León), Feb 27, 2020 (SPS) - Within the framework of the work visit to the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, the Minister of Public Health, Jira Bulahi Bad, has held a meeting with authorities from the region to coordinate action of cooperation in the health sector for the benefit of the population residing in the Saharawi refugee camps.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Health, Bulahi Bad and Manuel Mitadiel, manager of Sacyl, addressed the challenges facing the health sector in the Saharawi Republic and the efforts that are implemented to cover the basic needs of the population. The parties agreed to implement an action plan focused on supporting health centers and providing medical attention to cases that need to be evacuated outside the camps.
In the area of ​​assistance to Saharawi evacuees, the head of Health has met with the Councilor for Social Services of the City of Valladolid to formalize the granting by the municipality of a house for patients who move to the community to receive medical care.
In the field of health personnel training, Jira Bulahi Bad agreed with trade union forces in the region to study the possibility of creating distance training plans. The parties are committed to the use of the internet for the training of nurses and workers in the sector.
In the political field, the two-day work agenda ended with the meeting held with political parties and the Intergroup supporting the Saharawi people in the Courts of Castile and León.
The Saharawi leader explained the current situation and the block to the peace process in Western Sahara. He has also urged all political forces to join forces to enforce international legality in the last territory under the process of unfinished decolonization in Africa.
