Prime Minister: Quick settlement of Western Sahara issue strengthens peace, security in North Africa, Sahel

Algiers, Dec 17, 2012 (SPS)- A quick and urgent settlement of Western Sahara issue will contribute to consolidating peace and security in North Africa and the Sahel, Saharawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar said Sunday in Algiers.

 

In a speech at the 3rd conference on the right of peoples to resistance; case of the Saharawi people held in Algiers, Prime Minister stressed that  the independence of Western Sahara "would certainly combat and eradicate terrorism and organized crime prevalent in these regions."

 

Taleb Omar said that the meeting was marked this year by the strong presence of a delegation of parliamentarians, elected officials and members of the French civil society.

 

"this delegation (politicians, parliamentarians and representatives of French civil society ) asked the French President François Hollande not to put his veto so that "Western Sahara can finally gaining independence," he underlined.

 

in this regard, Socialist MP, Herve Feron called on President Holland "not to oppose its veto on extending MINURSO, as was the case under former President , Nicolas Sarkozy."

 

The work of the third international conference of Algiers devoted to"Right of peoples to resistance: the case of the Saharawi people" took place with the participation of 300 people, including 120 foreign and 40 activists in the occupied territories of Western Sahara. (SPS)
