Polisario Front welcomes Algeria’s positions in support of Sahrawi people’s struggle for freedom

Shaheed EL Hafed (Refugee Camps), 18 November 2023 (SPS) - The permanent office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front welcomed Friday Algeria’s positions, under the leadership of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in support of the struggle of the Sahrawi people for freedom and independence, that have been expressed in all occasions and forums.

In a statement culminating the meeting of its office, held under the chairmanship of the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, the Front welcomed “the well-rooted fraternal and friendship relations between the two brotherly countries and   peoples, within the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Sahrawi Republic.”

The Polisario Front welcomes Algeria’s positions, under the leadership of the President of the Republic in support of the Sahrawi people’s struggle for freedom and independence,” which have been expressed in all occasions, where the last one goes back to the recent visit paid by an important delegation comprising several heads of Algerian parties to the Sahrawi refugee camps.”

According to the communiqué, the participants followed a presentation on the visit paid by the president of the Sahrawi National Council, at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, noting “the importance of the visit and what characterized it as activities and meetings at the highest levels, including the meeting with the two speakers of the two chambers of the Algerian Parliament, the Prime minister, the minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as with ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Education, Communication and of Health.”

After a presentation on the developments that occurred on the ground on the military front, the Polisario Front extended “its thanks to the units of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army which resolutely continue the military action against the positions of the Moroccan occupying forces, since their blatant violation of the cease-fire agreement on 13 November 2020.”

The Front’s permanent office hailed “the struggles of the Sahrawi people in the occupied territory and in the South of Morocco, despite blockade, repression and terror.”

The meeting stressed the United Nations’ responsibility to enforce the international law and the humanitarian international law in the armed conflict zone, through the decolonization of Western Sahara, the end of the illegal Moroccan military occupation and the protection of the defenseless Sahrawi people, of their rights, their property and their natural resources.
