Shaheed Al-Hafed, 8 November 2020 (SPS) - The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front declared on Saturday a state of emergency, calling on the Sahrawi people to be at the highest levels of vigilance and mobilization to face up to all eventualities, in a statement that culminated an extraordinary meeting held by the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, chaired by President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali.
“After taking note of the presence of concentrations of Moroccan troops during the previous two days in confrontation of defenseless Sahrawi civilians protesting in front of the illegal breach in Guergarat, in full view of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), which did not stop Morocco from continuing this violation, the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, in the face of this dangerous development and based on the Basic Law of the Front, in particular Articles 97, 98 and 99 and the Constitution of the SADR, declares a state of emergency and it calls upon the Sahrawi people, through all their presences, the institutions of the movement and state, to be in the highest levels of vigilance and mobilization to face up to all eventualities, led by its vanguard the Polisario Front and its heroic army,” said the statement.
“The Sahrawi side, while condemning Morocco's continued occupation of parts of the territory of the Sahrawi Republic, a member of the African Union, on the one hand, and its persistence in its attempt to evade what it signed with the Sahrawi party under the auspices of the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity/African Union, on the other hand, it holds the Kingdom of Morocco responsible for what may result from this dangerous and aggravating situation,” added the statement.
“The status quo can only be overcome by the Kingdom of Morocco's submission to international legitimacy and the empowerment of the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination, independence and sovereignty over their entire national territory,” concluded the statement.
