28th African Union Summit opens in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2017 (SPS) – The proceedings of the 28th African Union Summit opened Monday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis-Ababa, under the sign: "Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth."
President of the African Union (AU) Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has officially inaugurated the African Union (AU) Summit at the organization's headquarters in the capital, according to Latina news agency.
Present at the opening ceremony Idris Déby, President of the Republic of Chad and President-in-Office of the AU, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
In the great event, which will culminate tomorrow, are gathered leaders from the 54 member nations, which make up the Assembly of the AU, the body's supreme governing body.
One of the main topics of the forum will be the election for the positions of president and vice-president of the Commission. The Summit will analyze other topics of interest of the continent.SPS
