Namibia calls on UN to the immediate holding of self-determination referendum in Western Sahara

United Nations (New York), Sept 24, 2011 (SPS) - The President of Namibia, Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamb, has called on the United Nations Organization to accelerate the implementation of the UN settlement plan and relevant resolutions, which call for the organization of a free and impartial referendum on self-determination in Western Sahara.



 

Speaking on Friday to the 66th regular session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Pohamb re-affirmed his country’s strong support to the firm right of the Saharawi people to freedom, self-determination and independence. (SPS)
