Algiers, October 19, 2011 (SPS) The Minister of Culture, Khadija Hamdi asserted Sunday that the fifth edition of ARTIFARITI is a means to express our solidarity with our brothers in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, suffering repression and torture by Moroccan authorities, in a statement to the Spanish agency EFE.

This year's edition is celebrated under the slogan "solidarity with the Saharawi people in its struggle for freedom" and coincides with the bloody events in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara), she added.

"We want to express through this festival our active solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the occupied Saharawi cities such as Dakhla and that the determination to fight for the liberation of our country is unwavering," specified Khadija Hamdi.

ARTIFARITI is an event that brings together artists and people of culture to advance human rights, the right of peoples to their homelands, culture, roots and freedom, through international solidarity. (SPS)
