Bogotá (Colombia), Oct 29, 2011 (SPS) - The Latin American Parliament (Andino) has decided to grant an observer membership to the Saharawi National Council, dispatched Thursday the Department of State in the Saharawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The membership decision has reached during the 34th ordinary session of the Andino Parliament held on Wednesday Oct 26, 2011 in the Colombian capital, Bogotá, in order to “strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two institutions.”
President of the Andean Parliament welcomed the entry of the Saharawi National Council, reiterating the unanimous support expressed by the Plenary of the Andean Parliament, to the accession.

Mr. Hash Ahmed, minister delegate in charge of Latin America, considered in this sense that this step is a “reflection of the will of the Saharawi state to expand and consolidate its Latin American projection, since the presence of the Saharawi National Council in an organism as important as the Andean Parliament.”

The membership has been agreed in the presence of Saharawi delegation, led by the Minister Delegate in charge of Latin America, Mr. Hash Ahmed, along with Ambassadors in charge of missions, Mokhtar Labaihi Mbeirik and Mohamed Zrug. (SPS)
