Abduction of three aid workers: investigation is continuing at various levels (Medelci)

Algiers, November 2, 2011 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mourad Medelci, said that investigations are ongoing at various levels to release "soon" the three foreign aid workers kidnapped recently in the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

"So far, investigations are ongoing at various levels in the services concerned in our country as well as in the neighboring countries who are also eager to find a track that can lead us to these people," underlined the  Minister on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the first of November at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The aim of these investigations is to "ensure that such persons (two Spanish and one Italian) are released as quickly as possible," he specified.

 

The three aid workers Aino Fernandez Corner, a Spanish citizen, member of the Friends of the Saharawi people in Extremadura (Spain), Enrico Gonyalons, a Spanish citizen, member of the Spanish NGO MUNUPAT and Rossella Urru, an Italian member of the Italian NGO CCISPP, were abducted by strangers in the night from 22 to 23 October.
