Montevideo, May 13, 2012 (SPS) - The Association of Friends of the Saharawi People in Uruguay organized Friday in coordination with the Saharawi Republic in Montevideo a seminar about the right of self-determination and struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence.
The seminar, which was held within the framework of the solidarity days with the Saharawi people that took place in Montevideo on May 10-20 under the title: “from Spanish Sahara to Saharawi Republic”, was presented by Emiliano Gómez, president of the Association.
Mr. Gómez explained reality of the struggle of the Saharawi and the reasons to support their cause, confirming “they are people who only aim to be enabled freely and democratically the exercise of their right to self determination.”
As part of the seminar, the documentary “voices of the Sahara” which explores stages of the Saharawis struggle. (SPS)
