AFAPREDESA organizes seminar on non-violence in collaboration with SweFOR

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), June 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Association of Families of the Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA) is organizing from June 14 to 17, 2012 a seminar on non-violence in collaboration with the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation Organisation (known as: SweFOR).


During the opening ceremony that took place Thursday, President of AFAPREDESA Mr. Abdeslam Omar said that the move aims at raise awareness about the non-violence phenomenon and convey voices of the oppressed people, citing examples from the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


He also indicated that the seminar is “an opportunity for the young participants to exchange ideas and entrench the culture of nonviolence as a mean to defend their rights.”


Workshops of the seminar are attended by representatives of the Saharawi Women Union, Youth Union (UJSARIO) and Students Union (UESARIO), in addition to representatives from the Ministries of Information and Culture.


The Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation (SweFOR), which has partnership with AFAPREDESA, promotes human rights and non-violence. As well, it holds several awareness programs on non-violence in several places of the world. (SPS)
