Saharawi Government appreciates presence of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Rabah Madjer at international conference on Saharawi children

February 27th School (refugee camps), June 18, 2012 (SPS) - The Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, appreciated Monday the UNESCO’s accept, for the first time, the invitation of the Saharawi authorities to attend the international conference on Saharawi children rights, through its Goodwill Ambassador the Algerian Mr. Rabah Madjer.


Speaking in the opening ceremony of the conference, Prime Minster said that the Saharawi authorities “have sent many invitations to UNESCO since the beginning of its cause, because it is rich of the considerable historical landmarks, but it did not meet these calls,” praising its participation at this international conference on the rights of Saharawi children.


He expressed hope in this regard that such participation would be a good omen for the Saharawi people.


From his part, SADR Ambassador to Algeria Mr. Brahim Ghali expressed hope that the United Nations would, through UNESCO, perform its duties in the Saharawi territories, especially regarding the protection of the historical fossils prone to damage.


Mr. Rabah Madjer, the former Algerian footballer, recalled to Algeria’s continuous support to te Saharawi cause, because it is just cause.


The former international Algerian player and coach and Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, Mr. Rabah Madjer, has arrived in the Saharawi refugee camps in an official visit, where he visited several national institutions and held meeting with the Saharawi national fooftball team. (SPS)
