President of Republic holds several meetings in Accra

Accra, August 12, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, has held several meetings in Accra, capital of Ghana, with heads of states and governments attending the funeral ceremony of the late Ghanaian President John Atta Mills took place Friday.


Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz met with the President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, Mr. Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamba of Tanzania as well as the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Mr. Kgalema Motlanthe, in addition to Ms. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and Mr. Abdelkader Messahel, Minister Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs of Algeria who represents the President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.


He also met with the Former Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan, and Ex-Chairman of the Organization of African Unity, Mr. Adams Kojo, as well as heads of the delegations of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Angola, in addition to several personalities attending the funeral of the late president of Ghana.


The meetings focused on the bilateral relations and ways to boost it, latest developments on the question of Western Sahara especially those related to the gross violations of human rights committed by Moroccan state in the occupied territories, south of Morocco and locations of Saharawi students in Moroccan universities and institutes, as well as the positions of intransigence and obstruction adopted by Moroccan government, latest of which was refusing to deal with the U.S. Ambassador Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara.


The President of the Republic attended funeral ceremony of Ghana’s late President John Atta Mills, at the invitation of Ghana’s current President Mr. John Dramani Mahama.


He was accompanied by an important delegation composed of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, State Minister, Mr. Bachir Mostafa Sayed, Secretary General of the National Union of Women, Ms. Fatma Lmehdi, Minister of Cooperation, Mr. Hadj Ahmed Barikala, Minister of Africa, Mr. Brahim Mukhtar Boumakhruta, and Counselor to the Presidency, Mr. Abdati Breika, Ambassador in Ghana, Mr. Mahjub Sidina.
