President of Republic hails steadfastness of Saharawi political prisoners in Morocco’s jails

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), August 19, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, expressed pride and appreciation of the Saharawi people for the steadfastness of the Saharawi political prisoners in the jails of Moroccan occupation, in a letter marking the occasion of blessed Eid al-Fitr.


“In the time when Muslim families’ open the doors of their houses for meetings, joy and kinship, Moroccan occupation machine want to make your houses dark, haunted by fear and a subject to encirclement, intimidation and raids at every moment, which house thousands of those families bereaved of their loved sons including martyrs, disabled and political prisoners like you, and thousands of people itching to get the honor of sacrifice that you and all members of the Saharawi people show daily under occupation,” wrote the President of the Republic in his letter to the Saharawi political prisoners in Morocco’s jails.


“Whilst the heroic Saharawi people wherever they are in the occupied territories, south of Morocco, university sites, liberated territories, camps of pride and dignity, diasporas and rural congratulate the Saharawi political prisoners on this sacred occasion, they will follow the path which they scarified for, because the enduring masses do not know cowardice nor abandonment, and here they are shouting, day and night, messages of solidarity and sympathy,” he added.


Around 67 Saharawi political prisoners, including 16 defenders of human rights, are currently incarcerated in the Moroccan jails of Salé, Aït Melloul, Taroudant and Kénitra, in addition to the Black and Torta’s jails in the Saharawi occupied cities of El Aaiun and Dakhla respectively. (SPS)
