Chaheed El Hafed (Refugee Camps)- Oct 11, 2012 (SPS) - Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Hervé Ladsous arrived today in the Saharawi refugee camps as part of three days visit to the MINORSO headquarters in the Saharawi occupied territories and refugee camps.
Head of UN peacekeeping held meeting with the Saharawi Coordinator with the MINORSO Mohamed Khadad before visiting the Wilaya of Boujdour where he met the local council.
The President of the Republic and Secretray General of the Polisario Front received Mr Hervé Ladsous .
Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations visited yesterday the MINORSO headquarters in occupied city of Al Aiun.
“I am thrilled to come here to MINURSO and to discuss with colleagues the challenges the Mission faces. I look forward to meeting our military observers in the team sites who under difficult conditions are doing a noble job,” said he during his visit to the occupied Al Aiun.
The visit by Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous is the first by the head of UN peacekeeping to the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in 14 years, the UN News Center indicated. (SPS)
