Minister of Defense receives Ross in liberated Tifariti

Tifariti (liberated territories), Nov 3, 2012 (SPS) - The Minister of Defense Mr. Mohamed Lamin Bouhali received Friday morning at headquarters of the liberated town of Tifariti the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General Mr. Christopher Ross, an official source told SPS.


The UN Personal Envoy arrived around 10 O’clock of Friday morning in the liberated town of Tifariti coming from the occupied Saharawi territories on a helicopter belonging to the United Nations, the source said.


Ross was received by the Commander of the 2nd Saharawi Military Region Mr. Hamma Salama, Head of Tifariti Mr. Mohamed Salem Dayah.


During the meeting, the Minister of Defense voiced preoccupation of the POLISARIO Front and government of the Saharawi Republic on the suffering and systematic violations of human rights the Saharawis face in the occupied territories and south of Morocco.


The Saharawi Official asked the UN to intervene to protect the Saharawi people, expressing SADR condemnation to Morocco’s abuses to dictates of the cease-fire, point to the existence of the Wall of Shame and mine fields.


After the meeting, Ross visited some facilities in Tifariti including the primary school, local hospital, historic museum of the 2nd Military Region.


The UN Personal Envoy Mr. Christopher Ross, who makes a tour to North Africa and Europe, expected to set foot today, Saturday, in the Saharawi Refugee Camps to held talks with leadership of the POLISARIO Front in the context of the efforts aimed at developing a solution agreed upon by the two parties to the conflict, POLISARIO Front and Morocco, through enabling the Saharawi people to exercise the right of self-determination.
