Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Swedish parliament calls on the government to recognize SADR

Stockholm, Nov 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Swedish parliament approved a resolution calling on the Government to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), said a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Sweden.

 

The resolution will be presented for approval at the Swedish Parliament at the end of this month to the formal recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

 

The Polisario Front representative in Sweden, Alien Habib El kentawi considered that "the adoption of this resolution by the commission is a step that will strengthen the formal recognition of the Sahrawi state in Europe."

 

"The resolution is a clear message to Morocco, who has always denied any just and lasting solution to the question of Western Sahara, which respects the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom," said Alien Kentawi

 

"It also reflects the commitment of the EU towards a solution to this problem, which lasted more than 37 years and the establishment of peace and stability in the Maghreb region," he added.

 

the Saharawi diplomat underlined that "the resolution also requests Morocco to comply with the resolutions of the international community calling for respect for the right of the Saharawi people and put an end to their suffering in the occupied areas and the refugee camps". (SPS)
