Abuja Special Summit is another opportunity to reinforce SADR prestigious status within AU, says Saharawi Diplomat

Abuja, July 20, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ambassador in Nigeria Mr. Abbi Bachraya Al-Bachir said, in a written press release distributed Friday, that the AU Special Summit on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, held on 15-16 July in Abuja, was another opportunity to reinforce the prestigious status enjoyed by the Saharawi Republic (SADR) within the African Union, as a founding member state which is fully and permanently engaged in its activities and programmes.


The Ambassador went on saying that the speech delivered by the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz during the opening session of the summit, in which he sent and urgent appeal to intensify efforts to settle the conflicts and end wars, was hailed by the delegations present at the event.


The Saharawi diplomat added that the participating delegations listened with great concern to the latest developments regarding human rights crisis in Western Sahara’s occupied cities resulting from the invasion and Moroccan military occupation of part of the Sahrawi Republic.


He, therefore, pointed out to the confidence and respect entrusted by African leaders to the Saharawi Republic through choosing the Saharawi President Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz to deliver the final congratulating speech in the name of the heads and kings of the AU Member States.


This speech, he added, has left a significant impact on the hosting country, Nigeria, the African Union Commission as well as the representatives of the member states and international partners. (SPS)
