Submitted on

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Sept 7, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoner Ajwad Farraha continues, for the eighth consecutive day, his open hunger strike in the Moroccan Lekhal’s prison in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, said a source of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

The state of health of the Saharawi detainee Ajwad Farrah, 29 years, is now miserable after he stopped water and sugar intake, said the source.

The aim behind his open hunger strike, underlined the same source, is to draw attention of international community and human rights organizations about the ill-treatment the Saharawi political detainees suffer inside Moroccan prisons.

Ajwad Farrah was arrested along with four other Saharawi activists after their participation in a peaceful sit-ins calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, held in the period between 27-28 May and 4 June 2013 in the occupied city of Smara. (SPS)
