HRW continues its efforts for respect of human rights in Western Sahara

Washington, Oct 31, 2013 (SPS) - "Human Rights Watch continues to make more efforts for the respect of humanr rights in the Western Sahara," stated Mr. Eric Goldstein, Deputy Director of HRW’s Middle East and North Africa Division, in a meeting with a delegation, who is touring U.S. to aware about the Saharawi cause.


Mr. Goldstein recalled to the efforts being made by Human Rights Watch for the release of Saharawis political prisoners of Gdeim Izik.


This meeting was an opportunity for the delegation to brief HRW about the state of gross human rights abuses in the occupied Western Sahara, particularly the recent Moroccan repression against the Saharawis masses in parallel with Ross visit to the Territory, occupied by Morocco.


The delegation composed of Ms. Fatma Mehdi, Secretary General of the Saharawis Women Union, Ms. Nouria Hafsi, Secretary General of Algerian Women Union, in addition to the Polisario Front’s Representatives in Greece and Washington, respectively Ms. Najat Handi and Mr. Mohamed Yeslam Beisat. (SPS)
