Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 6, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi government has denounced the “language of intransigence, repression and plundering of Western Sahara natural resources” demonstrated by the Moroccan King in his speech, delivered hours ago.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Saharawi Government said that the speech of the Moroccan King showed “an explicit will by Morocco to continue ignoring the efforts of the United Nations for the decolonization of the last colony in Africa, Western Sahara.”
“Government of the Saharawi Republic denounces the intransigence and insistence on aggression, occupation, human rights violations and plundering of the Saharawi people’s natural resources expressed in the Moroccan King’s speech, and emphasizes that the one who violates the AU Charter and resolutions and continues its illegal military occupation of the last colony in Africa, cannot, in any way, claim to defend the continent and its issues,” said the statement.
The statement noted that this speech seeks to justify the serious violations of human rights and plundering of Western Sahara natural resources carried out by Moroccan occupation.
It added that the Moroccan King’s speech was “fraught with an abusive and aggressive language, as well as unfounded accusations against states and international organizations for their principled defense, obvious and responsible, of the UN resolutions regarding the decolonization of the last colony in Africa.”
Warned of the escalation of repression and intimidation against the Saharawis by Moroccan occupation state, SADR Government renewed its call on the international community to protect the unarmed Saharawi citizens and stop the greedy Moroccan looting of their natural resources.
It, therefore, appealed to the international community to exert the necessary pressures and sanctions on Moroccan government to comply with international legitimacy, and thus to accelerate the decolonization of Western Sahara, through a free, just and impartial referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people.
