Third anniversary of dismantling of Gdeim Izik camp : Moroccan occupation authorities repress Sahrawi demonstrators in El Aaiun occupied city

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories ) November 9, 2013 (SPS) – The Moroccan occupation authorities suppressed Friday evening  a peaceful demonstration in the occupied city of El Aaiun, organised by Coordination of Gdeim Izik for Peaceful Movement, to commemorate the third anniversary of the dismantling of the camp of Gdeim Izik , according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

 

The Moroccan repressive forces intervened ‘violently’ after the demonstrators chanted slogans demading the right of Saharawi people to self –determination, respect for human rights in Western Sahara and release of Saharawi political prisoners , the source added.

 

The Moroccan police and assistance forces had besieged since Friday morning most of the city  streets and neighborhoods which experiences a heavy presence of security services.  

 

The camp of gdeim Izik was established by Sahrawi citizens and lasted through out the month of October until November 8, 2010, near the occupied city of El Aaiun, in which more than 20000 people tookpart, to denounce the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and demand their right to self-determination.
