Religions’ Dialogue for Peace stresses need to protect Saharawi human rights

Boujdour (refugee camps), Nov 26, 2013 (SPS) - Participants of the 8th Religions’ Dialogue for Peace have emphasized the need to protect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, voicing their commitment to continue awaring inside their countries about the Saharawi people’s suffering.

In a workshop organized Monday evening on the sidelines of the Dialogue about the subject of human rights on the heavenly religions, the participants indicated that such violations carried out by Moroccan occupying authorities in Western Sahara is “contrary to what all heavenly religions call for.”

Commenting on documentaries about Morocco’s abuses against Saharawi women and children as well as the lately-discovered mass grave in Mheiriz region screened during this workshop, they underlined that the heavenly religions renounce all forms of inhumane practices, regretting at the fact that such abuses occur amid an international silence and a tight media siege.

This workshop was steered by Mr. Khatri Addouh, member of the Polisario Front’s National Secretariat and Speaker to the Saharawi National Council (Parliament).

It was also attended by Saharawi and Algerian Imams, in addition to clerics and pastors from the United States.

The 8th Religions’ Dialogue for Peace, which kicked off Sunday, expected to conclude its work today evening. (SPS)
