Ambassador Deich Mohamed received by Acting President of Zimbabwe

Harare, Jan 30, 2014 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) in Zimbabwe Mr. Deich Mohamed Saleh received today, Thursday, in Harare by Ms. Joice Mujuru, the Acting President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.


In a statement to the press following the meeting, the Saharawi Ambassador indicated that the Acting President of Zimbabwe confirmed her government’s constant and firm position of support to the legitimate struggle of the Saharawis people.


Ms. Mujuru also said that the Government of Zimbabwe "will continue to defend this struggle at all levels until the people of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic enjoy their freedom and independence."


Saharawi diplomat, for his part, conveyed to his interlocutor greetings and gratitude of the Saharawi leadership and people to the leadership and people of Zimbabwe.


"The situation in the occupied territories is very serious. Under security and media blackout, the Moroccan Authorities is carrying out brutal and repressive practices against Saharawi civilians, including activists, only because they demand, through peaceful and civilized ways, the application of the charter and resolutions of the United Nations which grant the people’s right to self-determination and independence," underlined Mr. Deich Mohamed Saleh, in his statement to the press.


He, therefore, added that Morocco continues its plundering of Western Sahara natural resources, recent of which its illegal fish accord with the European Union.


The ambassador called on the AU and African solidarity movement "to step up quick reaction against Morocco to comply with its obligations toward a referendum of self determination, to lift the siege on the territory and stop its repressive policies and plundering the natural resources and , in this context, to call for setting a UN mechanism to monitor the Human Right situation."


The meeting focused on latest developments in the decolonization of the SADR and the bilateral relationship already exist between the two countries. (SPS)
